New Coach leads Sunset girls to title

Published 3/7/2008 6:21:43 AM by staff from dallas

The Sunset girls lost to WT White 2-0 on Monday, but that didn't deter the enthusiasm of first year coach William Prussack because Sunset had already clinched the District 11-5A championship.  Thus the game was meaningless in the standings.  Prussack, who coached Carrollton Newman Smith's girls the last two years, jumped at the Sunset job when it opened.  As a former assistant at South Oak Cliff, he was familiar with the area's talent and wanted to return to the DISD.

"This has been the best experience of my life," Prussack said.  "It's awesome to come into a community that welcomes you with open arms."

Sunset (13-4, 8-1)  had been carried by a strong core of versatile players, including junior Alexia Salas who leads the team with 24 goals, and junior Grace Ramirez.  Sophomore Monique Hernandez has been solid in goalafter moving from the field.
