SMU falls at Kentucky misses Conference USA Tourney

The SMU mens soccer team had everything to play for on their midweek trip to Kentucky. A chance to move up the Conference USA standings and grab a place in the four team Conference USA Tournament was on the line. Instead SMU laid an egg getting shutout and losing 1-0.
Overall it was a very even match with Kentucky outshooting SMU 16-13 on the night and SMU having 4 corners to Kentucky's 3. Once the match went to halftime scoreless it was evident that a single play would more than likely decide the match. Kentucky would find that special moment in the 65th minute of play when Tim Crone would score the winner.
With the loss SMU will not make the Conference USA Tournament and thus have no shot at an NCAA Tournament appearance this year. They will close out the season on Saturday night with a home game against Florida International at Westcott Field.
