The Preseason NCAA Mens Soccer Rankings from Soccermogul.com.  Check Soccermogul.com each Tuesday for updated rankings throughout this season.

1.  Wake Forest - The defending national champions return a strong roster and the best midfield in the country
2.  U Conn - superstar O'Brian White leads a potent attack
3.  Santa Clara - the class of the west coast
4.  Maryland - look to return to glory of a few years ago
5.  Indiana - 9 starters and a monster recruiting class make IU title contenders
6.  Creighton - looking for 17th straight ncaa appearance
7.  Boston College - trying to avenge last years tournament flop
8.  Northwestern - 9 starters return to a program on the rise.  Could be the sleeper team of the year.
9.  New Mexico - look out as 8 starters return
10. Brown - flying under the radar
11. Illinois Chicago - 9 starters back from a squad that made final 8 last year
12. St Louis - lots of returners but must overcome the rep of not winning big games
13. Old Dominion - 8 starters and 17 players return from 14-7-3 team
14. UC Santa Barbara  - have some holes to fill
15. California - 8 starters return from a program with 7 straight NCAA appearances
16. Virginia - tons of talent
17. UCLA - 7 starters return to try to lift program back to previous heights
18. Tulsa - most of the talent returns from a solid squad last season
19. SMU - defense will be stout but can they score goals in the big games? Tough trips to Virginia and Cal to open season
20. Louisville - a program on the rise that returns 9 starters.  could be a big surprise this year.
21. Ohio State - lost 4 major players from last year's Final Four squad but a good nucleus returns
22. U Mass - return their top top 6 scorers and 8 starters
23. North Carolina - after a rebuilding year look for the Tarheels to be factors again
24. Akron - traditionally strong program
25. Cal Poly - made a name for themselves last year as they went 11-4-4.  Almost the whole squad returns.
26. Notre Dame - lost several players including stud Joe Lapira.  How fast can the new faces step in and gel?
27. Denver - good recruiting class arrives to help a program on the rise
28. South Florida - have the talent to be much higher, need consistency
29. Virginia Tech - can they fill the talent loss?
30. Furman - have some big shoes to replace, but return 10 goal scorer Haris Cekic returns

SMU Finishes Disappointing Season with Loss

The SMU men were crushed on their home field by South Carolina in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tourney yesterday in Dallas, Texas. The 3-0 loss just put an exclamation point on a disastrous second half of the 2008 season which saw the Mustangs crash out of a top 10 national ranking into a position of not making the NCAA Tourney at all. FC Dallas stars Kenny Cooper and Drew Moor have been called in by US National Team Coach Bob Bradley to participate in a 4 day national team camp in Colorado. The camp will be used to prepare and select the squad that will face Guatemala in the last CONCACAF semifinal group match. Read More

TCU Women Lose Semifinal in Overtime

The TCU Womens soccer team looked to be going out of the Mountain West Tournament as the clock wound down in Las Vegas. A 63rd minute Utah goal looked to be enough to put the Utes thru. That is until Lizzy Karoly gave the Frogs new hope and sent the game into overtime with an 89th minute goal. Read More
