For North Texas, their championship match with New Jersey in the 1991 Girls division of the 2008 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) National Championships truly was déjà vu all over again. Yesterday, they opened play against Minnesota and trailed 1-0 at the break. But, in the second half, they scored seven times in a 7-1 win.

The Shell Shockers (4-5-5) had hoped to gain a win that would provide them with valuable points necessary to qualifying for the upcoming playoffs. Rain and mud dictated play throughout as group matches were shortened, but teams fought through. El Paso, now 3-2-2, tied Mississippi Brilla FC last Saturday night in El Paso, 0-0. But the Patriots went 3-0-1 in Open Cup qualifying matches, the best record in the Southern Conference, and earned their way back into the competition that has seen some of the franchise’s greatest successes.
