If Mesquite Poteet boys coach Casey Osbourn is basking in the glory of defeating McKinney a second time, he isnt letting it show. On Monday, after Poteet (12-2-1) stunned top ranked 4A side McKinney, Osborn was keeping it low-key.
"We're still improving, and there are things that we can still correct," Osborn said. "McKinneyis a solid ballclub with a solid tradition, but it doesn't mean anything if we don't take care of business the rest of the way."
Poteet should know. Poteet held the top spot in the rankings when McKinney Boyd pulled off a 2-0 victory on Feb 5th. Boyd is in first place in District 15-4A(10-1, 30 points) followed by Poteet (9-1-1, 28 points) and McKinney (9-2, 27 points).
Osborn said senior defenders TJ Mayfield and Michael Delgado have been consistent, allowing forwards David Rucker, a senior, and junior Jose Mendoza to be more aggressive. Mendoza leads the team with 12 goals while Rucker has 7 this season.
