Marshall routs SMU men 4-1

SMU opened a four game road trip by laying an egg Conference USA leading Marshall falling 4-1. Marshall notched the only goal of the opening half when Tom Jackson got on the end of a loose ball in the SMU box and knocked it home. The 2nd half was all Marshall as they opened a 4-0 lead behind goals from Dustin Dawes, Zach Hunter and Matt Butler.
The Mustangs would claim a late consolation goal when Joe Cooper scored in the 81st minute on an assist from Payton Hickey. Marshall moves to 3-0 in conference play. SMU next travels to South Carolina for a Wednesday night tilt followed by a trip to Tulsa.
