Even after coaching 30 years, there are things Flower Mound boys coach Guy Greening cannot explain. Take, for instance, his team's scoring barrage at last weekend's Arlington Martin Invitational. Flower Mound went 4-0 by outscoring opponents 21-1 enroute to winning the tournament's black flight championship. Entering the tournament Flower Mound was 4-4 and had outscored opponents 14-10.
"I Don't know," Greening said about his team's scoring burst. "It was one of those things where we kept scoring and kept going."
Senior forward Garrett Getschow had eight goals, including 4 in a 9-0 victory over Cedar Hill. He followed that up with three goals against Arlington Martin and was named the tournament MVP. Flower Mound opens district 6-5A against Carrollton Newman Smith on Friday. Area powers Flower Mound Marcus, Coppell, and Hebron are also in 6-5A.
