FC Dallas ready to kick off 2009 season with Chicago Fire Saturday

FC Dallas kicks off the 2009 MLS season with Brimstone Cup rivals Chicago Fire Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park. The Fire made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year losing out to eventual champions Columbus Crew. They look to be one of the stronger MLS sides for the 2009 season, but the Fire have not won in Dallas since 1999 and FC Dallas won both matches last year between the two squads.
FC Dallas will unveil several new faces for the 2009 season. MLS stars Kenny Cooper and Jeff Cunningham will run up top. Add in new playmaker David Ferreira and winger Dave van den Bergh and goals should come easily. The big question is the defense. New faces Steve Purdy and Daniel Torres arrive to man the backline, but the team gave up plenty of goals in preseason play. Add in injuries to Saragosa and defensive midfielder Pablo Richetti and we could see a real high scoring affair tomorrow night to go right long with the postgame firework show!
