Dallas Cup Super Group spot comes down to final weekend
Published 10/23/2007 10:26:30 AM by staff from dallas
It all comes down to the final weekend to see who will earn the Super Group invitation for next spring's Dallas Cup. National Champions Andromeda 90 and Solar 90 are all still alive in the hunt while Dallas Texans Red were elimated last weekend despite a win. Currently Andromeda is on top with 22 points while Solar sits at 20 and Dallas Texans Red 19, but since Andromeda and Solar play each other there is no way Dallas Texans can get over both of them. They can only finish 2nd with a win.
The final game will be played on November 4th with Solar facing off with Andromeda at 11am at Pizza Hut Park field #5. Only two weeks ago the standings showed Solar and Andromeda tied but with Solar having a dominant goal differential. A disappointing draw with 5th place Comets allowed Andromeda to move into 1st place. Thus, all Andromeda will need on November 4th will be a draw. Solar 90 must win the match. Solar currently shows the best offense in the league with 29 goals scored in 8 matches while only allowing 3 so dont count them out at all. It should be a fabulous game for the Super Group invitation at Dallas Cup XXIX.
