Dallas Cup - Local teams showing well

Published 3/20/2008 4:39:50 PM by staff from dallas

The group stages are now complete in Dallas Cup XXIX and the local lads have shown very well.

Super Group --

Andromeda 90 opened the tourney with a shocking win over defending champions Sao Paolo in the stadium but followed it up with a disappointing loss to Leicester City.  They were able to close out theit tourney with a well earned 2-2 draw against CF Monterrey, but did not advance.

Under 19 --
Both Dallas Texans 90 and Solar SC 90 won their respective groups while Comets earned a win, loss and draw in their 3 games.  Texas Cyclones lost all 3 matches as expected.  Dallas Texans will face Knowsley Youth of England in their quarterfinal while Solar will match up with last year's finalist IMG Academy.

Under 17 --
A disappointing showing all arouind from the Dallas based 91s.  Not one of the 6 sides were able to advance out of group play.  #4 nationally ranked Andromeda didn't give up any goals, but were only able to muster a single win from the good defense.

Under 16 --
Dallas Texans, River Plate and TFC were all able to advance to the knockout stages.  River Plate and Texans were able to win all 3 games.  In the quarterfinals, #6 Dallas Texans will face #1 nationally ranked Lonestar from Austin.  River Plate will face Lower Merion Velez and TFC will matchup with Rampage.  #4 FC Barcelona and #7 Solar SC were unable to advance.

Under 15 --
Another age that was completely shutout this year as it was pretty much a poor showing all around.  The Dallas Texans flopped completely as they were only able to claim 1 win.  Meanwhile, Solar Red couldn't even win a match.  DFW Tejanos claimed two draws.

Under 14 --
The 94s did much better than their 93 counterparts as 3 teams were able to advance to quarterfinal play.  Solar, Dallas Texans and Solar Red all cruised through group play while Longhorns were unable to win a match.  TFC won a pair but lost their group on goal differential.  Dallas Texans and Solar will face off in a massive quarterfinal showdown while Solar Red will play Italia of Southern California.

Under 13 --
Dallas Texans and Dallas Texans Red South both were able to get out of group play.  ASG Gold and Solar Red both finished last in their groups.  Dallas Texans have a tough order as they must now play powerhouse Southampton of England tomorrow.  Dallas Texnas South also have a tall order as they play Southern California power FC Barcelona.
