College Soccer - Locals to kick off the season this weekend

The local colleges kick off their regular season this weekend with some quality matchups. The SMU men, ranked #5 in the Soccermogul national poll, host #26 St Louis on Friday night. Meanwhile the TCU womens team travels to Austin to take on national power Texas.
SMU men - St Louis
The nationally-ranked SMU men's soccer team embarks on its road to the national championship this Friday, Aug. 31 with the 2007 season opener against Saint Louis at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU. Kick-off is approximately 7:30 p.m and tickets are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for youth. Since 2000, SMU is 5-2 in season-opening games. The series history between SMU and Saint Louis is nearly even at 14-14-4. Last season, SMU defeated the 20th-ranked Billikens by the score of 3-0.
SMU women - UT San Antonio
The SMU women's soccer team opens up the 2007 season this Friday with a home game against UTSA. Kick-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. The Mustangs defeated UTSA by score of 5-0 last season. SMU has won its last 12 consecutive season openers.
TCU women -
The TCU soccer program will open its regular season slate this Friday against Texas at Mike A. Meyers Stadium. Start time is set for 7 p.m. The Horned Frogs will return home on Sunday Sept. 2 to face off against Utah State. The match against the Aggies is set for 1 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
North Texas women -
The UNT ladies open with a pair of home games this weekend. Friday night UNT will host Texas Womens Univ at 7:00pm. They will take the field again on Sunday for a match with UT El Paso at 1:00pm.
