Fresh from the frozen turf here are some scores from local Thursday high school matches. Some important early district matches from 6-4A saw Arlington Heights beat Brewer 3-1 and Western Hills upset Aledo 1-0.
Due to the large district size they are forced to start district play very early. In other games of note, Keller had little trouble in an impressive 5-0 win over Mansfield. Grapevine won a midcities battle over Trinity 1-0. McKinney won the battle for the city with a 2-0 win over McKinney North.

Two of the favorites for the Conference USA title squared off Wednesday night at Westcott Field in Dallas, and senior forward Manuel Mariel's third goal of the season rallied the SMU men's soccer team to a 1-1 tie with South Carolina.

The TCU womens soccer team notched a 3-1 conference victory over New Mexico at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium behind a pair of goals from Jordan Calhoun. The game was played in front of 919 spectators and was the conference opener for TCU.
